Our Beliefs

Friendship Church exists to -
Love God, Love People, and Live to Serve - within our circles of influence. We take God’s command to love very seriously, as in John 15:12. ”My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you”. Our vision at Friendship is to be a place where all people are eager to attend, grow in Christ, and commit to serving like Him.

Importance of Church

We believe in a local, visible church that is composed of believers in Jesus Christ who have repented of their sins, confessed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and gather together for worship, the Word, and fellowship (Acts 2:41-47)

Holiness

We Believe in Holiness. The Person, the work, and the power of the Holy Spirit is fundamental to who we are as a people. We unabashedly own the truth that the Spirit can transform us, possess us, equip us, and empower us. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that sanctifies us, makes us holy, sets us apart for sacred service, and seals us for eternity’s sake. It is the Spirit that convicts us of sin and enables us to overcome sin. It is the Holy Spirit that can breathe supernatural gifts into us, for Jesus’ sake. He is the Comforter promised by Jesus and the witness of our redemption (Gal 5:22–23).

Trinity

We believe in the Trinity, one God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit (II Peter 1:21). The scriptures are the complete and final revelation of the will of God to man and therefore the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (II Timothy 3:16-17.)

Unity

We Believe in Unity. We are a people uniquely called by God to be a catalyst for Christian unity, believing that the division of the body of Christ is hell’s greatest weapon to thwart heaven’s ends in this world. We are convinced that the splintering of the body is not the Lord’s work, but the enemy’s; we believe that hell trembles at the prospect of a people united, redeemed by the blood, and possessed by the Spirit (John 17:21).

Receive by Faith

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who receive Him by faith as their personal Savior are forgiven and justified (John 1:12) by His blood shed on Calvary (Romans 5:9) and His resurrection from the dead.

Ordinances

We Believe in Baptisms, Communion, and Baby Dedications. We believe in water baptism by immersion for persons who have accepted Christ as their Savior. We practice observance of communion as a means of remembering Christ’s sacrifice and death on the cross. We perform child dedications to acknowledge the parents’ desire to raise their child in the ways and instruction of the Lord. (Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Proverbs 22:6)
